Little Havana and Hialeah Institutes

The Little Havana and Hialeah Institutes are alternative middle and high schools for students at risk.  Both institutes are fully administered by the CNC and funded by Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  Together they serve 500 Hispanic and other minority students who are potential school dropouts and encounter difficulties in adjusting to traditional school settings

The schools mission is to create a positive and safe environment that is conducive to learning and where students and staff can strive for excellence.  The schools have four primary goals:

    • Creating a social bonding among the students, teachers, and the school.
    • Fostering academic engagement, achievement, and involvement in school activities.
    • Personal and social development.
    • Graduating students with a regular high school diploma followed by admission to college or the pursuit of technical careers and good job opportunities.
    • The graduation rate for CNC sponsored institutes is 87%
